甘蔗屬 是一類禾本科 的单子叶植物 ,本屬包括了在全球種植的重要經濟作物 之數種甘蔗 ,是制造蔗糖 及提煉乙醇 的原料,並是重要生質能源 產源,及觀賞用的沙生蔗茅 (Saccharum ravennae)。本屬植物廣泛分布於世界各地,但數種廣泛栽培於全球的甘蔗在部分國家歸化,生長至農地之外的地方成為當地的本土種。
