1913年成立時名為「農民聯盟」（Bondeförbundet）^[11]，1957年改為現名^[12]。

2006年至今，中間黨與溫和黨、自由人民黨和基督教民主黨合組中間偏右執政聯盟──瑞典聯盟。現任黨魁是Annie Lööf。^[13]

自 2023 年起担任党魁的是穆哈雷姆·德米罗克（瑞典语：Muharrem Demirok）。

中間黨於瑞典議會中擁有24席，在歐洲議會中擁有2席。
