type specimen

典型地区（Type locality），也称为典型区域，是指首次确定的特定岩石类型、地层单位或矿物种类的产地。如果一个地区的地层单位呈层状，则称为层型，而无分层岩石的参考标准则是典型地区。 该术语类似考古学中的术语“典型遗址”（type site）或生物学中的术语“标准标本”（type specimen）。
