蕭酷古只被遼太宗任命他為僕射。天顯十一年（936年）閏十一月庚午，僕射蕭酷古只上奏遼太宗說，趙德鈞等援兵將逃跑，遼太宗下詔命夜間發兵追擊。趙德鈞等軍都投戈棄甲，自相蹂踐，擠於川谷的人不可勝紀。遼太宗仍命皇太子馳輕騎據險要，追及步兵萬餘，將他們降伏。
