萊斯利·史蒂芬

萊斯利·史蒂芬，kcb（英語：Leslie Stephen，1832年11月28日—1904年2月22日），英國作家、批評家、歷史學家、傳記作者和登山家。是維吉尼亞·吳爾夫和瓦妮莎·貝爾的父親[1]。
生平
萊斯利·史蒂芬畢業於劍橋三一學院，受牧師職。他是《英國人物傳記詞典》首任主編，撰寫三百七十八個條目；為《英國文學家叢書》，他寫出五部傳記；他也是一位道德哲學家，主張不可知論，並且撰著了一部進化論的《倫理科學》（1882年），此外還有《十八世紀英國思想史》（1876年），還有《英國功利主義者》（1900年）[2]。1904年2月22日去世[3]。
家庭
他的哥哥是律師詹姆斯·菲茨詹姆斯·史蒂芬。
史蒂芬爵士的原配夫人是小說大師威廉·梅克比斯·薩克萊的女兒哈里特·瑪麗安·薩克雷。維吉尼亞的教父詹姆斯·拉塞爾·洛厄爾是美國駐英大使。1875年，瑪麗安·薩克雷因病逝世，留下了一個女兒蘿拉。但蘿拉遺傳了外祖母的精神病，後被送進了瘋人院。1878年，史蒂芬爵士與裘麗亞·普林塞普·達克沃思（婚後改名茱莉亞·史蒂芬）[4]。
