興平二年（195年）楊密擔任中郎將。李傕將漢獻帝控制在手中，郭汜請公卿到營中，議欲攻打李傕。楊彪說：「群臣共斗，你們一人劫天子，一人劫公卿，這樣做對嗎？」郭汜大怒，想要手刃他，中郎將楊密及左右力勸，郭汜於是放了楊彪。
