半日花科(學名:Cistaceae)屬真雙子葉植物錦葵目,共包括8屬約170-200餘種。

本科主要分布在北溫帶氣候乾旱、陽光比較強烈的地區,如地中海沿岸、北美,也有少數種分布在南美。中國只有一屬一種—半日花(Helianthemum polifolium DC.),主要分布在新疆、內蒙一帶。
本科大部分為灌木或亞灌木,也有部分種為草本或大喬木,被有星狀毛;單葉對生或有時互生;花兩性,輻射對稱,花瓣5,偶有3,花開放的時間很短就凋謝,因此得名;果實為蒴果。
本科植物由於對土壤要求不高,被廣泛種植在園林中。其根常有塊菌共生,因也常被歐洲人用來培植塊菰。有的品種也可以提煉香精。
1981年的克朗奎斯特分類法將半日花科分到堇菜目中,1998年根據基因親緣關係分類的APG 分類法將其列入錦葵目。
†Cistinocarpum roemeri是來自漸新世中期發現於德國的宏觀化石,被描述為現存半日花科的祖先。Tuberaria屬的化石被發現於上新世的德國。[1]
