生平
劉能紀為原清朝兩江總督劉坤一之侄子，也是嗣子。[1]光緒二十八年十一月，「候選道劉能紀、加恩著以四品京堂候補。」[2]劉能紀襲一等男爵。後來，曾任散秩大臣、農工商部丞參上行走。宣統年間，任資政院欽選議員。[3]
