Nimbus Roman No. 9 L是德國字型設計公司URW++於1987年設計的一款襯線西文字型[1]，其前身是URW++在1982年設計的Nimbus Roman[2]，而Nimbus Roman又是基於Times New Roman設計而成的。1996年，Nimbus Roman No. 9 L以GNU通用公共許可證和AFPL授權發布[3][4][5][6]，也以Adobe Type 1字型格式成為了35款Ghostscript基本字型之一[7][8]。2009年，該字型又以LaTeX專案公共許可證授權發布[9][10][11]。因為Nimbus Roman No. 9 L是一款自由字型，所以Debian、Ubuntu等主流的Linux發行版都有預安裝這款字型，它們的軟體套件管理系統中也含有這款字型的軟體套件[12][13]。
