NGC 4305是一個位於室女座的矮螺旋星系^[2]，距離地球1億光年^[3]，1829年5月2日由約翰·赫歇爾發現^[4]。

雖然NGC 4305被認為屬於室女座星系團^[2]^[5]，但它的徑向速度和它的藍色光度表明它實際上是一個背景星系，這個星系附近擁有主要伴星NGC 4306。^[6]

NGC 4305表現出明確、光滑的螺旋臂，可終止其中央凸起^[7]。這種螺旋結構似乎是由與NGC 4306的潮汐相互作用引起的^[8]^[9]。這種潮汐相互作用也可以解釋其中性氫氣（HI）的缺乏。^[6]
