氫氧化金(III)通常指含 Au3+ 的溶液(如三氯化金溶液)與鹼(如氫氧化鈉)反應生成的黃棕色沉澱,其化學式為 Au2O3.xH2O[6]。它也可以由碳酸鹽溶液與濃 [AuCl4]− 溶液反應得到。

在五氧化二磷乾燥下,氫氧化金(III)生成AuO(OH)。140°C失去水得到 Au2O3。它是兩性氫氧化物,可溶於大多數酸,也可溶於過量強鹼溶液形成 [Au(OH)4]− 離子。易還原成金屬金,被用於鍍金、陶瓷著色等。
氫氧化金可以由氯金酸和如氫氧化鈉的鹼反應而成:[7]
- HAuCl4 + 4NaOH → Au(OH)3 + 4NaCl + H2O
氫氧化金和氨反應生成爆炸性的雷金。[8]
