甲烷短杆菌属（学名：Methanobrevibacter）为甲烷杆菌目甲烷杆菌科的一属革兰氏阳性菌。可在胃肠道、厌氧消化器或其他缺氧的且除CO2外无其他无机电子受体（如硝酸盐或硫酸盐）存在的环境分离到。此属的模式种为瘤胃甲烷短杆菌(Methanobrevibacter ruminantium)。
