WIV16病毒(SL-CoV-WIV6)是严重急性呼吸道综合征相关冠状病毒(SARSr-CoV)的一个病毒株,与造成SARS事件的SARS-CoV全基因组序列相似度为96%,同使用ACE2为受体感染细胞,是迄今发现和SARS-CoV序列相似度最高的蝙蝠病毒,于2016年发表。

WIV16病毒于2013年在云南昆明的中华菊头蝠粪便样本中发现并成功分离,其基因组长度为30290nt,与SARS-CoV的序列相似度为为96%,略高于WIV1病毒的95.6%和SHC014病毒的95.4%,是迄今发现和SARS-CoV序列相似度最高的蝙蝠病毒。另外此病毒刺突蛋白氨基酸序列和SARS-CoV的相似度为97%,也高于其他蝙蝠病毒与SARS-CoV的相似度,负责与宿主细胞受体ACE2结合的受体结合结构域(RBD)之氨基酸相似度则为95%,与WIV1相似;但其ORF8和SARS-CoV的相似度则较低,氨基酸序列相似度只有约40%[1]。WIV16病毒和WIV病毒在ORF6和ORF7之间皆有另一开放阅读框ORFX编码一辅助蛋白,为这两个病毒株所特有,可能可以抑制宿主细胞的干扰素β,并刺激NF-κB表现,进而调节宿主的免疫反应[2]。
SARS相关蝙蝠病毒中,仅有WIV16病毒与WIV1病毒被成功从样本中分离,并于体外细胞培养[1][2]。
