玫瑰是红色的（Roses are red）是一首英格兰诗歌，也指由这首诗引发出的一系列打油诗。它常被认为是一首爱情诗，也被编成民歌传唱。

起源

这首歌的历史至少可以追溯至1590年埃德蒙·斯宾塞的《仙后》（Book Three, Canto 6, Stanza 6）：^[1]

It was upon a Sommers shynie day,

When Titan faire his beames did display,

In a fresh fountaine, farre from all mens vew,

She bath'd her brest, the boyling heat t'allay;

She bath'd with roses red, and violets blew,

And all the sweetest flowers, that in the forrest grew.

现代情人节常用的歌词则来自1784年的英格兰童谣集《Gammer Gurton's Garland》：

The rose is red, the violet's blue,

The honey's sweet, and so are you.

Thou are my love and I am thine;

I drew thee to my Valentine:

The lot was cast and then I drew,

And Fortune said it shou'd be you.^[2]

维克多·雨果1862年出版的《悲惨世界》中，芳汀也唱过这首歌，法语为：^[3]
