该旗在英国海外领地之中是比较少见的，因为它是红底而不是常见的蓝底。这与加拿大（1868年─1965年）与南非联邦（1870年─1905年）的用法一致。百慕大总督（Governor of Bermuda）则用米字旗加上百慕大纹章为旗帜，这是传统英国海外领土总督的旗帜设计。政府使用蓝船旗的设计。
