一般民众[谁？]认为，出纳与会计也是同一类，又或者有职位“高级”与“低级”之分别，低级者用手来干活，高级者用思想来工作。不过有英伦银行或者香港的银行家，他们的前身或者现任职位也是出纳，在往上的职位称为出纳总管（Chief Cashier）。
