奥斯尼尔龙（属名：Othnielia）意为“奥塞内尔的”，是一种鸟臀目恐龙，是以最初的命名者－19世纪的美国古生物学家奥塞内尔·查利斯·马什（Othniel Charles Marsh）为名。马什原本在1877年命名牠们为雷克斯侏儒龙（Nanosaurus rex），彼得·加尔东（Peter Galton）在1977年将牠们重新命名为雷克斯奥斯尼尔龙（Othnielia rex），而状态为疑名^[1][2]。

奥斯尼尔龙的化石已在怀俄明州、犹他州、科罗拉多州的莫里逊组发现，年代为晚侏罗纪的牛津阶到提通阶^[3]，但根据加尔东在2006年对于莫里逊组鸟臀目恐龙的重新研究，奥斯尼尔龙的唯一可确定化石是正模标本的股骨（编号YPM 1875），可能还有其他相关的颅后身体部位^[4]。但加尔东认为该股骨是无法用来鉴定的，并利用其中两个部分骨骸建立一个新属，奥斯尼尔洛龙（Othnielosaurus）^[4]。这个新属仍等待者被广泛地接受，但这种分类状况已经有先例（例如马拉鳄龙与兔鳄）。奥斯尼尔龙的化石被划分到奥斯尼尔洛龙（Othnielosaurus）后，奥斯尼尔龙成为疑名，只有在概要性叙述中出现。

自从部分化石被独立成新属后，奥斯尼尔龙成为疑名，从剩下的化石，可看出奥斯尼尔龙是种小型、敏捷、二足草食性动物，可能拥有比例较小的手臂与长后肢，身长为1.5到2米，体重接近10公斤^[3]。奥斯尼尔龙出现在科幻小说《侏罗纪公园》（Jurassic Park）中，并被描绘成在树上攀爬的小型恐龙，但没有证据可支持这个说法。

在加尔东的2006年研究中，奥斯尼尔龙只有正模标本与两个部分骨骸是可供鉴定的，而其他的标本则无法归类。在这些无法归类的标本中，包含一个存放在瑞士Aathal恐龙博物馆的接近完整化石，昵称为“芭芭拉”^[5][6]，一个幼年的部分骨骸（编号DMNH 21716）^[7]、一个齿骨（编号MWC 5822），后两者曾被归类于奥斯尼尔龙^[8]。丹佛自然科技博物馆也有被归类于奥斯尼尔龙的化石。

在2001年，肯尼思·卡彭特（Kenneth Carpenter）等人宣称，在科罗拉多州花园公园的莫里逊组地层，发现一个幼年鸟脚类化石（编号DMNH 21716），可能属于奥斯尼尔龙^[9]。这个化石位于五个砂岩块中。根据骨头大小与长度、未愈合的神经弓、以及骨头组织等特征，这个化石被推测是个未成年体^[9]。如果这个标本属于奥斯尼尔龙，体型相当于成年个体的1/3大小^[9]。但目前还没有发现奥斯尼尔龙的刚孵化幼体、蛋化石，因此无法推测这个标本的实际年龄^[9]。
