亚特兰大战役

亚特兰大战役是1864年夏季在美国内战西部战场上发生的一系列战役，发生在佐治亚州西北部和亚特兰大周边地区。联邦军少将威廉·特库姆赛·雪曼从田纳西州查塔努加附近攻入佐治亚州，从1864年5月开始，遭到邦联将军约瑟夫·E·约翰斯顿的抵抗。

面对谢尔曼集团军的连续侧翼机动，约翰斯顿的田纳西军团向亚特兰大撤退。7月，南方邦联总统杰斐逊·戴维斯用更具侵略性的约翰·贝尔·胡德将军取代了约翰斯顿，后者开始在一系列代价高昂的正面进攻中挑战联邦军队。胡德的军队最终被围困在亚特兰大，这座城市于9月2日陷落，为谢尔曼向海边进军奠定了基础，并加速了战争的结束。
