身体结构
牠们可以重达30—110公斤及肩高超过1,4—2,3 米。于交配时份，雄性的颈部会明显的肿胀。牠们可以单以后腿站立，并达7呎的高度。只有雄性有着短厚，像竖琴形状，长达17吋的角。牠们的皮在背部是赤红色，两侧颜色较浅，腹部则是白色的。
生活方式
长颈羚较害羞，随时会俯首向前奔跑，且能穿越矮小的丛林。牠们一般只会在3-10头的群族生活。
与其他羚羊不同，长颈羚不会吃低处的植物，反而会靠后腿及长颈来吃树叶。牠们长的颈是从演化而来，有着伸展至高处的优点。牠们以吸收植物上的水汽来作为体内所需的水分。
