东晋时担任监军。咸和五年（330年）十月，成汉大将军李寿、征南将军费黑攻打东晋的巴东郡、建平郡，将其攻克，担任巴东郡太守的杨谦和监军毌丘奥退守宜都。后来他担任假节、监巴东诸军事、益州刺史。永和年间，振威将军周抚接替他担任假节、监巴东诸军事、益州刺史。
