城楼，或称作城门楼子，是指设在城上用来瞭望的楼台。《后汉书·卷十六·邓禹传》：“从至广阿，光武舍城楼上，披舆地图。”城楼有时作为城堡主城的一部分，有时则作为城墙的防御要塞，多设制于城墙的四角或城门上方。
