光荣号（La Gloire）是世界上第一艘铁甲舰，于1859年在法国土伦下水。该战舰是法国海军在克里米亚战争后开发的，以因应如匹希斯炮等海军火炮的快速发展。
在克里米亚战争中的金伯恩海战，法国海军战舰倚靠着船只的铁甲，抵挡住俄罗斯军队的炮火，使得铁甲舰成为法英两国舰队重要的技术发展方向。法国海军造船师迪皮伊·德·罗梅于1857年获得海军部的订单，并在两年后完工。
