源自中古英語 *fukken[1]，可能源自日耳曼語族：源自古英語 *fuccian或古諾爾斯語 *fukka，兩者均源自原始日耳曼語 *fukkōną，源自原始印歐語 *pewǵ- (「擊，打，刺」)。對比windfucker及其有爭議的詞源。
可能在772年時可考於一提到了一處地名Fuccerham的章程內，其可能意為「肏者之家」或「肏者之牧場」；1278年時出現於某記錄中的「John le Fucker」可能不過為「Fulcher」的變體，類似「Fucher」、「Foker」等形式。[2]在英語的所有發展階段中，本詞最早明確使用於與性有關的語境內可能是英國柴郡的一個1310年12月8日的法庭文件內，其提到了一個叫做「Roger Fuckebythenavel」的男子（可能是半開玩笑，或者暗指其有淫亂行為）。[3][4]本詞1598年首次出現在詞典內。[5] 低地蘇格蘭語 fuk/fuck可考記錄出現較早，可能進一步佐證了其源自北日耳曼/斯堪的納維亞的詞源理論。進入16世紀後，本詞開始被頻繁使用，接替了jape和sard並廣泛取代了swive。[2]
