前302年，韓太子嬰在臨晉之會後受父親委派到秦國朝拜秦昭襄王。前300年，太子嬰去世，公叔支持公子咎、公仲朋支持公子蟣虱，兄弟爭位。《戰國策》記載，公子咎、公子幾瑟在韓嬰在世時就開始爭位。
