宋徽宗大觀元年（1107年）北宋在海南黎母山心設置鎮州，治所在鎮寧縣（今海南省東方黎族自治縣東南廣壩），屬廣南西路。政和元年（1111年）廣南西路轉運副使陳仲宜奏廢鎮州，地入昌化軍。
