矽鋁層

矽鋁層是地球化學中所指地球的大陸地殼岩石圈，得名於其主要構成化學元素矽與鋁。^[1][2]

典型的矽鋁層物質， 密蘇里州St. Francis Mountains（英語：St. Francis Mountains）正長石基質中的前寒武紀花崗岩。

也稱矽鋁層岩石為長英質，因為其包含很高比例的矽鋁長石礦物。^[3]

矽鋁層最初由愛德華·修斯在19世紀提出。已經被岩相、重力測量、地震證據所證實。^[4]

性質

矽鋁層的密度低(2700–2800 kg/m^3[5])。與矽鎂層分界面並不對應於康拉德不連續面。^[6] 而是相當隨意地設定為平均密度2800 kg/m³的地方。^[3]

根據地殼均衡理論^[7] 山脈既向下也向上擴展其岩石圈^[7]，因此大陸地殼的矽鋁層厚度從5 km到70 km。^[8]
