生平
19歲時（1975年12月）高中畢業後即參軍，曾在河北唐山服役。1978年國家恢復高考後，張軍祥考上了西安二炮工程學院本科班，獲得工學學士學位；後畢業於華中科技大學馬克思主義哲學專業，研究生學歷。2007年，接替升任二炮副參謀長的魏士河，任二炮某基地司令員，與時任政委張東水「搭班子」。2009年，升任第二炮兵指揮學院院長，躋身正軍級。2012年，接替張啟華任中國人民解放軍第二炮兵裝備部部長。2014年12月，升任中國人民解放軍第二炮兵部隊參謀長[1]。2015年12月31日，進入新成立的中國人民解放軍火箭軍首任領導班子，出任參謀長[2]。2016年7月，不再擔任中國人民解放軍火箭軍參謀長[3]。
2013年，當選第十二屆全國人民代表大會解放軍代表[4]。
