傑瑞·巴特勒

小傑瑞·巴特勒（英語：Jerry Butler, Jr.，1939年12月8日—2025年2月20日）是美國靈魂樂創作歌手、製作人、音樂家與政治人物。他因身為R&B合唱組合印象合唱團的主唱而聞名。在離開合唱團後，巴特勒的個人音樂生涯也相當成功，在流行與R&B音樂銷量/熱門排行榜上擁有55首前40名單曲。1985年起，他當選成為伊利諾州庫克郡的郡委員會成員，擔任衛生和醫院委員會主席和建築委員會副主席至2018年。^[1]

生平

巴特勒於1939年出生於密西西比州的森弗勞爾。^[2]他生活在芝加哥的卡布里尼-格林住宅區（英語：Cabrini–Green Homes），音樂和教會為貧困的當地社區帶來慰借。^[3]年輕時的巴特勒與結他手柯提斯·梅菲爾德先是在教堂合唱團裏相遇和一起演出，之後兩人一同加入了六人制合唱組合，即當時還是叫The Roosters的印象合唱團。合唱團的風格受山姆·庫克與靈魂煽動者（英語：The Soul Stirrers）、密西西比五盲童（英語：Five Blind Boys of Mississippi）、朝聖旅行者（英語：Pilgrim Travelers）等福音合唱組合的影響，而他們也就此進入了音樂產業。^[4][5][6]

1958年，巴特勒與亞瑟（Arthur Brooks）和理察·布魯克斯（Richard Brooks）兄弟合寫了〈For Your Precious Love（英語：For Your Precious Love）〉，而他們正在尋找錄音室來錄製這首歌時引起了國際象棋唱片（英語：Chess Records）與維傑唱片（英語：Vee-Jay Records）的注意。印象合唱團在同年選擇與維傑唱片簽下合約並錄製、發行了〈For Your Precious Love〉。這首歌成為了組合第一首金唱片認證熱門歌曲，並在《滾石雜誌》的五百大歌曲榜中位居327名。^[5]然而，在1960年巴特勒決定離團展開個人音樂事業，梅菲爾德則接替他成為組合的新領導。

1970年的巴特勒

巴特勒擁有兩張最成功的專輯，分別是1968年的《The Ice Man Cometh（英語：The Ice Man Cometh (album)）》和1969年的《Ice on Ice》。他與來自費城的詞歌創作組合甘柏與霍夫（英語：Gamble and Huff）合作，在摩城唱片與保羅·大衛·威爾森（Paul David Wilson）製作了兩張專輯：《Suite for the Single Girl》（1976年）和《It All Comes Out in My Song》（1977年）。^[4][5]

東尼·奧蘭多與黎明合唱團（英語：Tony Orlando and Dawn）於1975年翻唱了〈He Will Break Your Heart〉，並以新名字〈He Don't Love You (Like I Love You)〉發行。此版本在《告示牌》百大單曲榜上成為冠軍單曲，比巴特勒的原版更加成功。^[6]

在近幾年，巴特勒曾擔任公共廣播電視公司音樂特別節目的主持人，如《Doo Wop 50》、《51, Rock Rhythm and Doo Wop》、《Soul Spectacular: 40 years of R&B》等。他還曾擔任節奏藍調基金會（英語：Rhythm and Blues Foundation）的董事會主席。1991年，巴特勒與印象合唱團的其他創始成員（梅菲爾德、山姆·古登（英語：Sam Gooden）、弗雷德·凱許（英語：Fred Cash）和布魯克斯兄弟）一同入選搖滾名人堂。^[6][12][13]

瑞典車庫龐克樂團蜂窩樂團（英語：The Hives）在他們的第二張專輯《Veni Vidi Vicious（英語：Veni Vidi Vicious）》翻唱了巴特勒的歌〈Find Another Girl〉。黑鍵樂團也在2010年專輯《哥兒們（英語：Brothers (The Black Keys album)）》中翻唱巴特勒的歌〈Never Give You Up〉。^[14]
