偶氮甲烷是一種有機化合物,化學式為CH3-N=N-CH3,存在順式和反式兩種構型。它可由均二甲肼雙鹽酸鹽在乙酸鈉水溶液中由氯化銅氧化得到,該反應生成氯化亞銅的偶氮甲烷配合物,它受熱分解得到偶氮甲烷。[3]它也可由一種鈧的雙氮配合物和鉀、三氟甲磺酸甲酯反應,得到其Me2N2配合物,再與碘反應得到。[4]
