背景
越南是在越南共產黨統治的一黨制國家，因此越共是可以參選的唯一政黨。在2016年的選舉中，該黨贏得了496個席位中的475個，其餘席位由與政府結盟的越南祖國陣線的獨立成員獲得。
選舉制度
500名國會代表由184個多議席選區選出，採取兩輪投票制。[2]但實際上，由於沒有真正的競爭，所有選舉都是單輪選舉。
2021年國會選舉有868名候選人角逐，其中74人是非越共人士，有9名候選人是自薦。有205名候選人是第14屆國會代表。[3][4]
