線粒體12S rRNA

線粒體12S RNA是一種存在於線粒體核糖體（mitoribosome，MR）中的rRNA，沉降係數約為12S長度約為959nt。在人類細胞中，12S rRNA由MTRNR1基因編碼。

哺乳動物線粒體的基因組種都包含37個基因：除了編碼2種rRNA的基因外，還有22種編碼tRNA的基因和13種編碼mRNA的基因。這些基因，尤其是12S rDNA和16S rDNA，具有很高的系統發育方面的研究價值。

MTRNR基因的突變可能導致聽覺喪失。^[1]
