車前科（學名：Plantaginaceae）是唇形目中的一個大科，種類十分多樣，包含了如金魚草和毛地黃等花卉。

本科在以前的分類法中只包括三個屬—單蕊車前屬（Bougueria）、海車前屬 （Littorella）和車前屬（Plantago），中國只有車前屬。
最新的基因分類決定將原屬於玄參科的一些屬劃入車前科，例如，天使花屬。並將杉葉藻科和腎藥花科併入本科。現在包括90屬約1700餘種。其中最大的婆婆納屬就包括450餘種。中國約有19屬。
本科植物主要分佈在全球的溫帶地區，既有草本也有灌木，還有幾種是水生植物。葉既有單葉也有複葉，有對生的也有螺旋式排列的；花也多樣，有花瓣4的也有5-8的，一般花冠分為上下兩部分唇狀；果實為蒴果。
1981年的克朗奎斯特分類法將其單獨分為一個單科的車前目，1998年根據基因親緣關係分類的APG 分類法將充實後的車前科列在唇形目中。
