身勢學是有關動作與姿勢的研究。對姿勢、平衡與一般動作或位置變化來說，運動感（kinesthetic）都是必不可少的。動力學（kinetics）指由力引起的運動之科學，而活動藝術（kinetics art）則包括繪畫與雕塑的某些部分或所有部分之間的運動。自體動作（autokinetc）指在環境中實為靜止對象的變動屬性。比如，自體運動的效果涉及在一間暗室里對某個固定光點產生的知覺。最後，身勢學同視覺模式（the visual mode）的研究相關，而這種視覺模式同身體動作與非語言傳播具有特別的關係。
