歷史
BBC Sounds應用程式的初始測試版本於2018年6月推出， [5]此時測試版本和iPlayer Radio應用程式都可以用來收聽BBC廣播。2018年10月，BBC Sounds網站取代了iPlayer Radio面向英國用戶的服務。[6]2019年9月，iPlayer Radio應用程式最終在英國停止服務。2020年9月22日起，BBC Sounds向國際用戶開放，並於10月末取代iPlayer Radio。[7][8] 從此，iPlayer Radio提供的服務徹底被BBC Sounds取代。2020年3月智能電視端（包括Amazon Fire TV ）應用程式發佈。 [9]
內容
根據BBC Sounds官方，它是BBC專門用於存放原始音頻節目資料的地方，而不只是提供即時轉播，這點與iPlayer Radio不同。
BBC還宣佈計劃在BBC Sounds平台中提供第三方的播客節目，但沒有明確第三方內容是否可供下載。 [10]
可用性
與BBC電視節目不同，BBC Sounds的大部分節目在全球可用，且不需要英國電視授權。[11]在英國國外不可用的節目主要有體育報導、音樂，尤其是古典音樂和音樂會直播。[12][13]出於版權限制，BBC Sounds不允許非英國用戶下載廣播節目，但允許下載大部分播客。[14] 目前，BBC Sounds應用程式在中國、俄羅斯、印度、越南不可用。
