球會成立於1897年10月27日，當時叫做Atlético Escuela Normal F.C.。在1933年球隊成為了智利首屆聯賽的冠軍，在隨後球隊取得了聯賽冠軍「帽子戲法」(1933年, 1934年和1935年)，但是球隊最後一次奪得聯賽冠軍是在1938年。
儘管球隊近70年沒有取得聯賽冠軍但球會仍然是智利足球史上最成功的球會中排名第7位。
