金那海行伍出身，勇武有力。至正二十五年（1365年），因為孛羅帖木兒擁兵京師，要挾朝廷，金那海與威順王和尚、待制徐士本受惠宗密旨和勇士上都馬、帖古思不花密謀刺殺他。孛羅帖木兒入宮時，金那海、上都馬等人上前手刃孛羅帖木兒。金那海因功升任中書省平章政事。
