五代十國荊南改荊門縣設置荊門軍，治所在荊門縣（今湖北省荊門市）。北宋開寶年間將長林縣屬入。包括今湖北省荊門市、當陽市。南宋端平年間治當陽縣。元朝至元十四年（1277年）改為荊門府，後降為荊門州。
