早年求學於蕪湖市十一中。2008年，參加蕪湖市體育夏令營時，被市青少年體育學校射擊教練席挺慧選中，隨後參加訓練，2012年直選進入中國國家射擊隊專練十米移動靶步槍射擊項目。2014年9月25日，甘宇入選仁川亞運會中國代表團[1]。並在2014年仁川亞運會射擊賽場男子10米移動靶團體比賽中，與翟羽佳、張杰合作，以1717環的成績獲得冠軍[2][3]。2018年8月6日，入選雅加達亞運會中國體育代表團名單[4]。8月24日，亞運會射擊男子10米移動靶個人賽，甘宇排名第十。8月25日，他在男子10米移動靶混合速決賽中獲得第三[5][6][7]。2019年11月，他在卡塔爾多哈亞洲射擊錦標賽男子10米移動靶標準速比賽中，與隊友一起獲得團體銀牌，另外以562環的成績獲得個人銀牌。11月12日，他再獲男子10米移動靶混合速比賽團體銀牌，並獲得個人第六名[8]。
