湯馬士·約翰·「湯」·薩金特（英語：Thomas John "Tom" Sargent，1943年7月19日—），美國經濟學家，擅長於總體經濟學、貨幣經濟學、時間序列等領域。他和小羅拔·魯卡斯、尼爾·華勒斯、羅拔·巴羅等人同為理性預期革命的重要代表人物，並且是數篇開創性論文的作者。他和華勒斯共同研究，發展出了理性預期均衡的馬鞍路徑穩定性特徵化及政策無效性命題。2011年，薩金特與基斯杜化·西姆斯同獲諾貝爾經濟學獎，以表揚「他們對總體經濟學成因與效果所投入的實證研究」[1][2]。
生平
薩金特1943年生於加州帕薩迪納，1964年畢業自加州大學柏克萊分校，1968年獲得哈佛大學博士學位。歷任賓夕法尼亞大學(1970-1971)、明尼蘇達大學(1971-1987)、芝加哥大學(1991-1998)、史丹福大學(1998-2002)等校教職，目前為紐約大學經濟學系威廉·柏克利經濟和商業講座教授。他同時也是計量經濟學會會士(1967)、史丹福大學賀夫研究所高級研究員(1987)。
2012年5月，接受聘任，擔任首爾大學教授。
2016年，在薩金特幫助下成立了非盈利的QuantEcon，致力於為經濟學，計量經濟學和決策制定等開發開源計算工具。
