南朝齊永明八年（490年）設立壽陽郡，屬梁州，荒或無民戶。南朝梁沿置，大同二年（536年）屬萬州。治所在今四川省達州市達川區或宣漢縣境。承聖三年（554年），西魏佔領壽陽郡，屬通州，北周沿置。隋文帝開皇三年（583年）廢壽陽郡。
