1986年1月21日，該建築以「梁啓超故居」之名公佈為第二批東城區文物保護單位。2013年，文物部門確認此處並非梁啓超故居，梁啓超從未在此處居住過，於是將「梁啓超故居」摘牌，改名為「北溝沿胡同23號四合院」。[1]
