劉易博學好古，喜談軍事。韓琦知定州，向朝廷進獻劉易所著《春秋論》，朝廷任命他為太學助教，并州州學說書，不願屈志仕進，力辭。趙抃推薦他的行誼舉止，朝廷賜號「退安處士」。尹洙、狄青都對他以禮相待。宋英宗治平末年，去世。
