后稷納姞氏，生不窋[1]。
姬氏自堯時起歷代為稷官（農師），不窋也繼承父職。不窋晚年時，夏朝國政腐敗，不關心農業，取消了稷官。不窋失官後，離開祖居邰（今陝西省武功縣）出走，率領周部落遷徙到北豳（今慶城縣）的戎狄之間。[2]其死後葬在甘肅慶城的周祖陵。
