前471年四月，晉出公準備發兵進攻齊國，派人到魯國請兵，魯國臧石領兵會合晉軍，佔領了廩丘。晉軍撤退，把活牛送給臧石，太史表示歉意：「由於寡君出行在外，使用的牲口不合禮儀規定的標準，謹敢表示歉意（以寡君之在行，牢禮不度，敢展謝之）。」[1]
