周天指一個行星繞恆星一周的運動。天文學上以天球大圓三百六十度為周天。[1]《逸周書·周月》中有記載：「日月俱起於牽牛之初，右回而行，月周天進一次而與日合宿。」[2]《漢書·律曆志下》中記載：「周天五十六萬二千一百二十。以章月乘月法，得周天。」[3]《禮記正義·卷十四·月令第六》鄭玄注、孔穎達疏：「星既左轉，日則右行，亦三百六十五日四分日之一至舊星之處。即以一日之行而為一度計，二十八宿一周天，凡三百六十五度四分度之一，是天之一周之數也。」[4]
