莫里斯 (皇帝)

莫里斯（英語：Maurice；拉丁語：Flavius Mauricius Tiberius Augustus；希臘語：Φλάβιος Μαυρίκιος Τιβέριος Αὔγουστος；539年—602年11月27日）是東羅馬帝國將軍和皇帝（582年－602年在位），他在位期間大肆改革，曾使一度衰弱的東羅馬帝國再度強盛。卻因試圖壓制地方軍閥權利，引發軍閥叛亂，身死族滅。

生平

莫里斯最初作為秘書進入政府。578年任駐守東方的帝國軍隊司令官。因反擊波斯人戰功輝煌，獲提比略二世皇帝選為繼承人。582年8月5日即帝位，8月13日加冕。在他即位時，東羅馬帝國面臨着嚴重財政危機，而他的周圍又全是敵人。在東方，莫里斯首先繼續與波斯薩珊王朝的戰爭，率兵進軍波斯，在索拉孔戰役和馬蒂羅波利斯戰役中擊敗薩珊波斯軍隊。

他扶立霍斯勞二世為波斯王以後，進攻正在帝國境內建立永久居留地的斯拉夫人和阿瓦爾人。在西方，他以一種新的民政組織管理飽遭戰火的意大利。他認識到民政機構不足以保護殘存的拜占庭領土免遭倫巴第人入侵，因而向羅馬和拉韋納委派軍事總督。然後，他在北非設立迦太基總督營區以抵擋柏柏爾部族的進攻。拉韋納和迦太基兩個總督管區是由軍事長官管轄民政機構的兩個行省，這成為爾後東羅馬帝國行省制度的基礎。

因連年征戰導致國庫空虛，賦稅加重。同時莫里斯又削弱地方軍隊的勢力，將大權委任給親信，引起多方的強烈不滿，最終導致於602年多瑙河地區的軍隊總督福卡斯發動兵變。叛軍攻破君士坦丁堡，在群眾的罵聲之中，莫里斯滿門老少被當眾斬首。

莫里斯有九個孩子:

• 狄奧多西（583/585年8月4日－602年11月27日之後），根據以弗所的約翰記載，自狄奧多西二世繼位以來，他是第一個出生的繼承人^[1]。587年，他被任命為凱撒（副皇帝），590年3月26日成為共治皇帝。
• 提比略（英語：Tiberius (son of Maurice)）（602年11月27日被殺）。
• 佩特魯斯(Petrus) (d. 27 November 602).
• 保盧斯(Paulus) (d. 27 November 602).
• 朱斯丁(Justin) (d. 27 November 602).

• 狄奧克蒂斯塔(Theoctista) (d. circa 605).

莫里斯的弟弟佩特魯斯（英語：Peter (curopalates)）(c. 550 – 602) 被封為「庫羅帕拉特」，與莫里斯同時被殺。 佩特魯斯妻子Anastasia Aerobinda (b. ca 570), daughter of Areobindus (b. c. 550), and had female issue.

妹妹狄奧克蒂斯塔(Theoctista)(c. 540 – aft. 582) 丈夫死於582年莫里斯登基前，有一女歌迪亞（Gordia） (c. 560 – aft. 597), 她嫁給Marinus (c. 555 – aft. 597), son of Nerses (c. 530 – aft. 595) and wife Hesychia (b. c. 535), by whom she had a daughter Theoctista (c. 575/c. 580 – aft. 597), married to Christodorus or Christodoros (b. c. 570) and had issue.

另一個妹妹歌迪亞（Gordia） (c. 550 – aft. 602)嫁給Philippicus將軍 (c. 550 – Chrysopolis, 614), 582年封comes excubitorum和magister militum ，by whom she had a daughter, who married Artabastus (Artavazd) Mamikonian (b. ca 565), and had issue.
