甘肅廣播電視大學漢語言文學專業大專學歷。1990年9月-1992年9月任蘭州軍區政治部副秘書長，1993年1月-1998年5月任蘭州軍區政治部宣傳部部長，1998年4月任新疆軍區第11師政委，1999年7月任南疆軍區政治部主任，2003年6月任新疆軍區政治部主任，2003年12月任新疆軍區副政委兼紀委書記，2005年5月任蘭州軍區政治部副主任。2009年12月任新疆軍區政委[1]。2011年6月晉升中將軍銜。是第十一屆全國人大代表。2013年7月，升任蘭州軍區副政委[2]。2014年12月到齡退役[3]。
