關於北魏妃嬪位號，請見「椒房 (位號」。西漢時，椒房殿是皇后住所[2]。《太平御覽·卷一百八十五》，引《漢官儀》稱：「皇后稱椒房，以椒塗室，主溫暖除惡氣也。[3]」漢哀帝時，將董昭儀所住宮殿改名為椒風殿，以與椒房相對[4]。其後，椒房逐漸演變成皇后代稱。北魏時，曾用作妃嬪的位號。
