望柱是中國傳統建築構件稱謂，狹義上指欄杆柱，是欄板和攔板之間的短柱。望柱有木造和為石造。
望柱分柱身和柱頭兩部分；柱身的截面，在宋代多為八角形，清代望柱的柱身，截面多為四方形。望柱柱身各面常有海棠花或龍紋裝飾。柱頭的裝飾，花樣繁多，常見的有龍紋、風紋、雲紋、獅子、蓮花、葫蘆[1]。 故圓明園內楠木塔的欄杆柱為木製，柱頭雕覆蓮花[2]。圓明園綏城樓寶塔欄杆柱，高五六寸，雕成如意雲[3]
