巴烏，自由簧樂器，彝族、苗族、哈尼族等所用。管身竹製或木製，長約27厘米，有前7個、後1個共8個按音孔，一端側面開吹孔，吹孔內裝有尖舌形銅質簧片，口含吹孔橫吹，振動簧片發聲。其音色優美，音量較小，常用於舞蹈和說唱的伴奏。近年有人將巴烏管身加粗加長，使用音鍵，以增大音量和改善音準，可奏2個八度（e——e2）。在紅河彝族地區流行直吹巴烏和雙管巴烏。
